Mission:

Our mission here at the Chamoru American Foundation is to serve, protect, and increase all-hazard emergency preparedness for one of our nation’s most isolated inhabited territories, the Mariana Islands.

Our aim is for all communities in case of natural (Typhoons, tsunamis, Floods, etc) or man-made (Terrorist/Cyber Attacks, Grid Down Events, Industrial Mishaps, etc) disasters. The Mariana Islands is the American front line when it comes to being close to a majority of our nation’s top adversaries (China, North Korea, and Russia). We strive to work with all community entities such as Guam Police Department (GPD), Guam Fire Department (GFD), Guam Waterworks Authority (GWA), Guam Power Authority (GPA), Guam Homeland Security, Port Authority, Village Mayors, and more in order to ensure a multy-layered approach for community preparedness prior to a disaster. Join us in protecting and increasing the preparedness of our Mariana Islands. We follow the most recent 2024 Guam Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) and 2023-2025 Pacific CyberGuard Kontra I Piligru Cybersecurity Plan to determine and analyze threats, vulnerabilities, and data.

Our four foundational goals are:

  • Build the overall emergency preparedness reserves across the Mariana Islands working with village/local entities providing continuous resources needed to respond.
  • Establish the dedicated  infrastructure (shipping, receiving, storage) in order to provide continuous aid from the mainland U.S. back to the Mariana Islands.
  • Establish community responder facilities aimed at helping increase stored resources in strategically located areas and serve as a community aid stations.
  • Seek out projects across the islands that increase overall preparedness in order to increase resiliency and sustainability.
